You may notice when you search for cell phone repair on Google, you will not see any ads. Unfortunately, Google doesn’t let cell phone repair shops advertise. Some believe this is due to Google also being a cell phone manufacturer and others believe it is to protect consumers from bad businesses. Currently, there are at least a couple high quality cell phone repair stores in most cities. Be careful, there will always be inexperienced people doing cheap repairs with little dependability. You can avoid those places by reading online reviewsand calling the store ahead of time to become comfortable with the people and services they provide.
The third option is to try and fix it your self (DIY). This option can be done, but will take more work than those videos on YouTube may show you. In many instances, people can damage the device worse than before, increasing the costs when you take it to a professional. If you want to give it a try here a few steps to follow.
Use ifixit.com as your parts supplier. Amazon and eBay are full of untested, low quality parts and I would not suggest buying your parts from places like that.

If all else fails, take it to a repair store and ask them to finish the process for you.
The fourth and final option is all the cell phone manufacturers and wireless retailers favorite alternative. Buy a new cell phone or device.
This may not be the best option for your. In most cases, if you just need a new screen, battery or charge port. It may be a better option, to fix your phone, instead of throwing out a repairable phone and it ending up in a landfill somewhere.

Common speaker and microphone problems on the iPhone 7 and 7+
We all know at least one person that has had an iPhone 7 or 7 Plus, and has lost the ability to use the microphone, speakerphone, record audio on videos or may never get past the apple logo on a restart. All these issues are a symptom of the audio ic chip on the circuit board of the iPhone 7 and 7+.
The Audio IC problem is very similar to the situation the iPhone 6 Plus has with the Touch Sensor IC chip, where that phone will lose the touch screen function intermittently and eventually permanently. The iPhone 7 and 7+ Audio IC problems are most likely caused by the same manufacturing procedures that caused the iPhone 6+ Problems.

Most of those that are able to get replacements are either under the 1-year

This kind of “IC” or circuit board related problems require a very skilled micro soldering professional to properly repair it, without causing damage to any other components on the delicate circuit boards in iPhones today. Cost- OLED screen manufacturing is much more expensive than LED screens. This causes not only the phone to be more expensive to purchase, but it also makes the most common repair the most expensive repair. A Galaxy Note 8 or iPhone X can easily cost $600 to replace the screen. If the screens were LED they could be less than $100 in some cases.
Quality- There is no argument that OLED screens produce a better image than LED. However, the difference can be nearly indistinguishable during the typical cell phone users most common tasks. Making calls, texting, checking email and similar tasks would be no different. Videos, photos and similar apps do look better, but the difference is not enough to justify a $600 repair.
Screen Burn- Although OLED screen manufacturers are trying to minimize the occurrence of screen burn, it still happens on OLED screens. What is screen burn? Screen burn is when you see an image of what used to be on the screen, “burned” or stained onto the screen at all times. It doesn’t matter what screen you are on the image is always partially burned into the background. Old plasma TV’s used to do this a lot.
Breakability- OLED screens seem to break or get damaged when the glass breaks, much more often than LED screens. OLED screens are very thin and that plays a large part in there rigidity. If your phone flexes or gets smashed hard enough, you are likely to be left with a blank screen. Often, you can still hear the phone ring and see buttons light up, but when the OLED screen is damaged it generally goes blank. Most LED screens can be used when the glass breaks, but sometimes they too will break, and leave the user with a blank or discolored screen.
Supply Shortages- OLED screens are currently only being manufactured by only a couple companies. This naturally increases the costs of OLED screens and results in the end user paying much more for their devices. The shortages also add to the availability troubles for spare parts for repair, increasing the price for repairs as well.
Yes, you can get your iPhone battery replaced. All iPhone batteries will eventually need to be replaced. There are a few ways to tell your iPhone battery is going bad. The most common symptom of a bad iPhone battery is when it starts to die before it should. If your phone battery dies around 20-30% instead of going all the way down to 0, you need a new battery. Sometimes the battery will percentage will “jump” around, going from 90%-50% or less after normal use. Then when you plug it in, it comes back on at another percentage.
Once your new battery is installed, be sure to cycle it properly for two reasons. The first is to ensure your battery is good. Letting your battery die, and charging it all the way to 100% will ensure that your new battery is fresh and ready to go. The second reason is to make sure your battery gets a fresh start. SquareTrade is calling the iPhone X the most breakable, and most expensive to repair iPhone ever. You will want insurance on this device. The OLED Screen in the iPhone X is extremely expensive and currently no one manufacturers aftermarket OLED screens. Cell Phone City is estimating that the iPhone X screen repair will be at least $400.

OLED screens, like the one in the iPhone X, are much more fragile than the LED screens used in prior iPhone models. When you break your iPhone X screen, there is a higher likelihood, you won’t be able to use it until you get a new one. When the OLED breaks, the screen tends to go black and the touch is unresponsive. Anyone who has ever broken a Samsung Galaxy phone in the past has probably experienced this.
Get Insurance
So what can you do? First, get insurance, apple care, SquareTrade or some form of the replacement plan. Next, You will have to cover your awesome new phone with a case, we suggest Otterbox or another popular, full body case. A glass screen protector is also important, maybe even more so. In Short, if you get an iPhone X. Get insurance, a high-quality case, and a glass screen protector. If you don’t, be prepared to pay several hundred dollars for a screen replacement.
Apple has finally released the iPhone X. Now that some people have them in their hands we have some images and an official iFixit teardown. The iPhone X got a 6 out of 10 repairability score, which is okay for professionals, but not great for home repairs.
Bigger Screen, Bigger Battery, Bigger Cameras
The screen comes off the phone similarly to the iPhone 8. The first thing we noticed was the dual cell battery. In order to make the battery bigger, Apple split it into 2 batteries, connected with a circuit board. The battery is removed the same as it has been for the past few years, with pull-tabs. What surprised us the most, were the size of the cameras. Both the front camera / facial recognition camera, as well as the dual lens camera on the back are huge compared to older models. Other than the screen and battery, the cameras seem to be the only things that are getting bigger.
Don’t Drop it!
Here’s the bad news, so far. The back glass on the iPhone X seems to be relatively permanent at this point. The glass is mounted on the back with the camera shroud on top of it. It seems, we are going to have a hard time mounting a new piece of glass without removing that camera shroud, which appears to be welded to the frame. Eventually, back glass iPhone X replacements will be figured out, but for now, don’t break the back glass or the front for that matter. Samsung OLED screens (which this iPhone X uses) are the most expensive screens a cell phone can use.
